Jay-Z, Beyonce mull pricey Brooklyn

NEW YORK, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Rapper Jay-Z says he and his expectant wife Beyonce may join generations of young Manhattan families and set up housekeeping across the bridge in Brooklyn.

Jay-Z hinted at the celebrity heresy to E! Online, saying the outer borough is actually a bit on the pricey side.

"The prices over there are really high," Jay-Z said. "It's not like before."

While price may be an object, dear old Brooklyn holds another key draw for Jay-Z, the New York Daily News said Saturday. He's a part-owner of the NBA New Jersey Nets, who have plans to relocate to a new arena in Brooklyn next year.

Trial blackout at Jackson kids' home

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Michael Jackson's three children have decided not to watch news coverage of the California trial of their late father's physician, sources tell TMZ.com

The celebrity Web site reported there is a self-imposed blackout of the proceedings in Los Angeles at the home of Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson.

The sources said the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray is considered too painful to watch, particularly for Paris and Prince, who were on the scene when Jackson suffered a fatal drug overdose in 2009.

The sources added that Jackson's mother, Katherine, was relieved the kids declined to watch opening statements, which included photos of their dad's body.

Halle Berry breaks foot chasing kid, goat

HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Actress Halle Berry broke her foot this week while shooting her new movie in Spain, Warner Bros. announced.

The studio said she was injured in Majorca while enjoying a day off of the set of the new film "Cloud Atlas," but a source filled in some of the details for People.

The source said Berry tripped over a rock after breaking up a game of chase between her 3-year-old daughter, Nahla, and one of the local goats on Sept. 21.

People said Berry was photographed leaving a hospital in a wheel chair with her right leg in a cast. It wasn't clear if the injury would disrupt the filming of "Cloud Atlas," but the source said she was told to stay off her feet for at least three weeks.

Former fiancee auctioning Hef's diamond

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Hugh Heffner's former fiancee is offering her engagement ring to the highest bidder at an auction this month.

The Los Angeles Times said Christie's is expecting to get $20,000-$30,000 for the ring that Crystal Harris kept after her engagement to the 85-year-old Playboy mogul was broken off this summer.

The rock is measured at 3.39 carats and was touted at about $90,000 when Hefner presented it to Harris in December. Harris tried to return the ring when the wedding was called off, but Hefner declined the gesture, the Times said.
