PHOENIX, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Rapper DMX was arrested after Arizona police allegedly clocked the car he was driving at more than 100 mph, public safety officials said Thursday.
A spokesman with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said the 40-year-old, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was pulled over in a Chrysler 300 for going 102 mph on a 65 mph freeway in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa, KNXV-TV, Phoenix, reported.
A check by officers discovered Simmons was driving on a revoked license. He was cited for multiple moving violations, arrested and released on bail Thursday morning.
The car was turned over to the passenger Julio Martinez, who was the owner of the vehicle, KNXV-TV said.
The arrest is the latest for Simmons who has been in and out of jail for offenses including animal cruelty, violating probation, and gun and drug law violations.
