The organizers said in a written statement that Slam Nuba was followed by New York City's Nuvorcian Poets Cafe, Writing Wrongs of Columbus, Ohio, and Providence Poetry Slam out of Rhode Island.

A total of 76 four-person teams took part in the National Poetry Slam, which moves on to Charlotte, N.C., in 2012.
