SANTA BARBARA, Calif., July 9 (UPI) -- Celebrities from both sides of the pond had tickets to join Kate Middleton in cheering on Prince William at a polo match Saturday in Southern California.

Orlando Bloom, Zoe Saldana and Rosario Dawson were to represent Hollywood at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club along with not-so-commoners from Britain such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Alex Pettyfer, Us Weekly reports.

A classic Southern California day was forecast for the coast with dazzling sunshine and temperatures just warm enough to make the champagne and chilled Chardonnay taste even better between chukkers.

The event north of Los Angeles featuring the newly wed British royal couple was to benefit the American Friends of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, but it was unlikely there would be any charity cases in the crowd. Tickets started at $400 and were sold out while a spot on one of the three teams required riders to pony up $10,000, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The newspaper added that despite some media reports to the contrary, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon would not be on call at the event, just in case a nose gets literally bent out of shape.
