NEW YORK, June 7 (UPI) -- Conservative U.S. commentator Glenn Beck says viewers of his new GBTV will have to subscribe to the live online streaming video service.
Beck recently announced he will leave Fox News Channel at the end of this month.
His Web site said he announced on his syndicated radio show Tuesday plans for his future endeavors under the GBTV banner.
Beck said since viewers will subscribe to his network, the programs' producers won't be as concerned about sponsors and interference as the bosses at a traditional TV network are.
"We're tired of a middleman," Beck explained. "This is not mass. This is for a group of Americans that know what they believe, know where they're headed, and want to move forward and they don't want to waste their time. That's what GBTV is."
Beck said after careful consideration he decided to start up a daily 2-hour-long program on his own network on the World Wide Web instead of moving from Fox to another television channel.
"This is not like anything else you've seen on the Internet," he said of GBTV.
"It is going to launch on Sept. 12. Sept. 12, 2011," he added. "We're going to commemorate that anniversary with the launch of a new network and a new way to do things. GBTV will be a network that has news unlike you have seen anyplace else."
