Hop' still on top of U.S. box office

LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- "Hop," featuring the voice of Russell Brand, stayed atop the U.S. box office for the second weekend with more than $21.69 million.

"Arthur (2011)," starring Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner and Russell Brand again, was second with more than $12.60 million.

"Hanna," a thriller starring Cate Blanchett as the villain, was a close third with more than $12.32 million.

All studio estimates of gross receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Soul Surfer" was fourth in more limited release with $11.1 million; "Insidious" fifth with $9.74 million; 'Your Highness" sixth with $9.52 million; "Source Code" seventh with $9.05 million; "Limitless" eighth with more than $5.69 million; "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" ninth with more than $4.88 million.

"The Lincoln Lawyer" was 10th with $4.6 million.


Quick tropical honeymoon for Witherspoon

LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- Reese Witherspoon and new husband Jim Toth were spotted honeymooning in the Central American nation of Belize, sources told People magazine.

The couple, who tied the knot in California last month, were sighted acting like average tourists in the tropical get-away along with Witherspoon's two kids, Ava, 11, and 7-year-old Deacon.

People said the honeymoon trip began only last week as Witherspoon fulfilled some post-wedding obligations to publicize her new movie "Water for Elephants." The film hits theaters April 22, so the couple will likely return to Los Angeles soon.


Report: 'Idol's Toscano signs record deal

LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- "American Idol" contestant Pia Toscano signed a record deal less than a day after she was ousted from the show, UsMagazine.com said.

The Web site said sources confirmed the deal between Toscano and Interscope Records.

"Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it," the source said.

Toscano's departure from the popular Fox TV talent competition Thursday night surprised many fans, but Interscope reportedly had her signed by Friday morning.

Interscope is chaired by producer Jimmy Iovine, who has been a mentor for "Idol" contestants over the years.


'Sister Wives' cast to expand in October

LAS VEGAS, April 10 (UPI) -- Another child is on the way for Kody and Robyn Brown, who star in the TLC series "Sister Wives."

Robyn is one of Kody's three wives and their extended fundamentalist Mormon family, which already totals 17 kids.

"I'm overjoyed," Kody, 43, told People magazine. "This connects Robyn and me together in a way that nobody can take away."

People said Sunday the newest Brown was due in October and will be the first for the couple. Robyn has three kids from another marriage.

Robyn said the rest of the Las Vegas family has been very attentive to her and she is considering a home birth.
