NEW YORK, April 6 (UPI) -- Playwrights Athol Fugard and Eve Ensler are to be honored at the 2011 Tony Awards ceremony in New York this June, organizers said.
Fugard and Broadway executive Philip J. Smith will be presented with Special Tony Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.
Ensler will receive the Isabelle Stevenson Award, which "recognizes an individual from the theater community who has made a substantial contribution of volunteered time and effort on behalf of a humanitarian, social service or charitable organization," the Tony Web site said Tuesday.
The non-competitive awards will be presented at the 65th annual Tony Awards ceremony June 12. The show will be broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre on CBS.
Tony Award nominations are to be announced May 3.
