NEW YORK, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Actress Catherine Zeta Jones rushed home from London to New York this week to be with her cancer-stricken husband, actor Michael Douglas.

Zeta Jones, 41, was on holiday to watch the Ryder Cup in Wales when she received a call from one of Douglas's doctors Thursday, The Sun newspaper reported Saturday.

"The doctor spoke to her about Michael's condition. Michael is always desperate to see her, but typically of Michael, he didn't want to make a fuss," a family friend told the newspaper Friday.

Zeta Jones also made arrangements for her parents to meet her in New York within the coming days.

"She was emotional. She cried but was very brave," a source at London's Heathrow airport told The Sun.

Douglas, 66, who has been undergoing chemotherapy, looked "gaunt" Friday upon welcoming Zeta Jones back home, the newspaper said.

Bolton seeks apology from DWTS judge

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Michael Bolton says "Dancing With The Stars" judge Bruno Tonioli should "search his soul" after he panned Bolton's routine as the "worst jive in 11 seasons."

Bolton's performance Monday, which got him booted during the second week of the season, earned him a total of 12 points out of a possible 30 -- 5 points from Len Goodman, 4 points from Carrie Ann Inaba and only 3 points from Tonioli, who said the Grammy-winning singer's performance was "the worst jive in 11 seasons," adding that he did it "very, very, very badly."

Bolton said he asked Tonioli for an apology once, but he won't ask again.

"Bruno should search his soul for what he is doing on that show," Bolton said, adding his critique was "mean spirited," People magazine reported Friday.

"I don't wish to pressure the show … I don't blame them. Nor do I wish ABC to put any pressure on him. I think it's a personal epiphany (Tonioli) may have to have. I asked for it in one interview and I felt he should express a public apology to me. I think asking once is enough, and I don't want my friends, fans and supporters to ask for it. It is what it is," Bolton said.

The worst part was having his mother in the audience, Bolton said. "It broke my heart for her. She was very angry. It's a good thing that there was an entire dance floor between her and Bruno."

Bolton still loves the show, however.

"The producers and the people who work for them are phenomenal at making you feel as comfortable as possible," Bolton added.

The producers defended the judge, saying he was only doing his job.

'Jersey Shore' gets record viewers

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- MTV's reality hit, "Jersey Shore," drew a record number of viewers for the second episode of its second season with Snooki and the gang in Miami Beach.

The show had 6.7 million viewers at 10 p.m. Thursday, a high for the series, The Hollywood Reporter said. Among the important 18-49 year old demographic, it drew a 3.4 audience share.

Those would be respectable numbers for a broadcast show in that time slot. "Jersey Shore," in fact, had better demo numbers than its broadcast competition, "Private Practice" on ABC, "The Mentalist" on CBS and the NBC reality show "The Apprentice."

The show features eight people sharing a beach house. The first season was filmed on the Jersey Shore in Seaside Heights

Rycroft keeping baby's sex a secret

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Melissa Rycroft, host of ABC's "Bachelor Pad," and her husband Tye Strickland know the sex of their baby, who is due in February, but they aren't telling.

"We know the sex of our baby. We can now narrow down the names to just one gender," Rycroft, 27, said Friday in Orlando, People magazine reported.

"Tye and I have definitely been doing the name game, but we haven't definitely picked one out. We're down to two possible names, so now it's time to make a decision."

And once that decision is made?

"I'm not telling. It's a secret," she said.

Rycroft said she's having an extraordinarily easy pregnancy.

"Pregnant cravings are the one thing that I really want to experience, and I'm not. My doctor says sometimes people don't get to experience it. I have no cravings, no aversions, smells don't bother me, no morning sickness, none of that. I've really gotten lucky. Not even heartburn.

"All I've got is the belly. I like it. I was nervous about what my body was going to do, but I try to eat healthy and maintain somewhat of a workout schedule so that the weight I put on is a healthy weight. So far, it seems to be working for me," Rycroft said.
