GLENDALE, Calif., July 28 (UPI) -- The makers of Butterfinger candy bars have unveiled an online, interactive comic book starring U.S. actors Erik Estrada, Lou Ferrigno and Charisma Carpenter.

The series is available at Facebook.com/Butterfinger and ButterfingerDefenseLeague.com, Nestle USA said.

"In response to an outbreak of Butterfinger thefts earlier this year, the iconic TV stars were announced as the official Butterfinger Defense League, established to protect Butterfinger against would-be thieves and promote the tagline-turned-mantra, 'Nobody's Gonna Lay a Finger On My Butterfinger!'" the company said in a news release.

"Most superheroes make the leap from comic book pages to the silver screen, but our twist takes the Butterfinger Defense League stars and makes them the heroes of a gripping graphic novel," Tricia Bowles, spokeswoman for Nestle USA Confections & Snacks, said in a statement.

Estrada started as a motorcycle cop in the TV series "CHiPs," Ferrigno as the bulky green crimefighter in the movie "The Incredible Hulk" and Carpenter is known for her role in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

"Butterfinger fans now can play along with us in defending our favorite candy bar," added Estrada. "Each chapter of the graphic novel delivers a unique, fun, interactive experience -- you'll even get a chance to use my sexy signature crime-fighting moves as you choose your adventure with the Defense League."
