MIAMI, July 17 (UPI) -- A U.S. appellate court has upheld actor Wesley Snipes's three-year prison sentence for misdemeanor tax evasion.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Miami ruled Friday that the maximum sentence of three years Snipes received for failing to file tax returns in 1999-2001 was "well within" the "considerable discretion" of a U.S. District Court, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Snipes, who was found not guilty on fraud and conspiracy charges, was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of tax evasion in 2008. He has been free on bail pending his appeal.
The ruling did not indicate when or where Snipes was to begin his sentence, ABC News said.
