STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 26 (UPI) -- Swedish Princess Madeleine and lawyer Jonas Bergstrom, her beau of eight years, have broken up, Stockholm's royal court confirmed.
The couple announced their engagement last August and were expected to wed this year.

The Swedish news agency TT quoted a statement on the royal family's Web site as saying the princess and Bergstrom had mutually decided to part ways after "mature consideration."
"They need peace and quiet in this difficult situation," the court's statement added.
TT said the announcement follows reports claiming Bergstrom cheated on the princess with a Norwegian handball star while on a ski trip.
