NEW YORK, April 15 (UPI) -- Author and Newsweek columnist Anna Quindlen is to be honored at the upcoming Barnard Scholarship Dinner and Auction in New York, organizers said.
The "Igniting Excellence" event is to take place Tuesday at Manhattan's Plaza Hotel, with "Gossip Girl" star and Barnard alum Zuzanna Szadkowski serving as emcee. The dinner is intended to raise money for Barnard's financial aid program.
The event also will honor recipients of the Frederick A.P. Barnard Award, one of the college's highest honors. This year's honorees are Barnard Board of Trustees Chair and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Anna Quindlen, who graduated in 1974, and recently retired New York State Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye, who graduated in 1958.
