Marie Osmond's son dead at age 18

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- An autopsy was expected Sunday on the body of Marie Osmond's 18-year-old son, who died in Los Angeles, a family member said.

Michael Blosil apparently jumped from his Los Angeles apartment window Friday night, E! News reported.

The teenager has suffered from depression for some time and left behind a suicide note, the report said.

Osmond released a statement Saturday saying the family was devastated "and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael."

Blosil was adopted by Osmond and her former husband, music producer Brian Blosil.

The singer and her brother, Donny, have indefinitely canceled their Las Vegas act, E! reported.

Donny Osmond spoke to "Entertainment Tonight" Saturday, saying: "Please pray for my sister and her family."

Harry may have enough 'brains' for Apache

LONDON, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Britain's Prince Harry is being considered as an Apache attack helicopter pilot, despite once saying he didn't have the "brain capacity" for it, sources say.

The Mail on Sunday reported sources at the Army Air Corps headquarters in Middle Wallop, England, said Harry is being considered as a pilot for the complicated aircraft after doing well in his current training.

The Mail said if the prince does get to fly the Apache, it might mean he could return to the front line in Afghanistan, where he served in December 2008. There is a shortage of Apache crews, in the theater, the report said.

The prince until now has been learning to fly a Lynx utility helicopter, used for support and convoy protection as well as ferrying troops around; but Apaches have a more direct combat role.

"He has a good idea that he has been shortlisted and he's really had his head down as he has a lot of work on at the moment," one of his superiors at Middle Wallop told the Mail. "His dream is to fly an Apache and we've told him it will all depend on how he does on the next part of the course. It certainly hasn't been ruled out."

The report said the prince will have to undergo another six to eight weeks of training before any decision on a helicopter is made.

Glass crashes New York Purim party

NEW YORK, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- A snow and ice-laden atrium shattered during a Purim party at New York's Sony Plaza, showering about 100 revelers with glass, party goers said.

Among those celebrating the Jewish holiday Saturday night were actor Christopher Noth and the cast of MTV's reality show, "Jersey Shore."

About a dozen people were treated for minor injuries -- mostly cuts, the New York Daily News reported Sunday.

"It was crazy," "Jersey Shore's" Vinny Guadagnino told the News. "It was loud."

Authorities speculated heavy ice and snow from the recent storm caused the Madison Avenue atrium to shatter around 11 p.m.

Model Daphne Segev said "a section of glass just shattered on us. Everyone ran out, some people were screaming."

Nellie Barkley, 29, told the New York Post: "This is my first and last time at one of these."
