Actress Jennifer Jones dead at 90

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Hollywood movie star Jennifer Jones died Thursday of natural causes at her home in Malibu, Calif., a spokeswoman said. She was 90.

Born Phylis Isley in Tulsa, Okla., Jones was famous for her marriages to actor Robert Walker, producer David O. Selznick and industrialist-art collector Norton Simon, as well as for her Oscar-winning portrayal of the title character in 1943's "The Song of Bernadette." Her other film credits include "Since You Went Away," "Love Letters," "Duel in the Sun," "The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit," "A Farewell to Arms," "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing" and "The Towering Inferno."

Leslie C. Denk, a spokeswoman for the Norton Simon Museum of Art in Pasadena, confirmed Jones's death to the Los Angeles Times.

Jones reportedly supervised the museum after Simon's death in 1993.

The Times said the actress is survived by her son Robert Walker Jr., eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her son Michael Walker died in 2007 and Mary Jennifer, her daughter with Selznick, died in 1975.


Report: Jon & Kate are officially divorced

WERNERSVILLE, Pa., Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Former U.S. reality television personality Kate Gosselin confirmed Friday her divorce from her husband Jon has been finalized.

The "Jon & Kate Plus 8" stars filed for divorce in June after nearly 10 years of marriage. The couple have twins and sextuplets together. The family appeared together on the TLC show for five seasons, but the series wrapped shortly after Jon and Kate split up.

"I am very relieved that our divorce has been finalized, and I look forward to the New Year, focusing on the children," Kate Gosselin said in a statement issued to People.com. "On behalf of myself and my legal team, I want to express my deep appreciation to the judge and his staff, as well as to the arbitrator, for resolving this case. ... This has been a challenging transition for all of us, but I am confident that we will move ahead with the important task of restructuring our lives."

Leelee Sobieski gives birth to a daughter

NEW YORK, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Leelee Sobieski's publicist Thursday confirmed the actress has given birth to a daughter in New York.

"Leelee delivered a bouncing, healthy girl late last night in New York City," her representative told Usmagazine.com. "Proud father is her fiance, menswear designer Adam Kimmel."

The child, whose name was not announced, is the first for the couple.

Sobieski's movie credits include "Public Enemies," "Eyes Wide Shut," "Here on Earth," "The Glass House" and "A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries."


'Avatar' focus of Letterman's Top 10 list

NEW YORK, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- "Avatar," James Cameron's eagerly awaited science-fiction movie opus, was the subject of David Letterman's Top 10 list in New York Thursday night.

The talk-show host read "Things Overheard on Line to See 'Avatar'" on "Late Show with David Letterman."

The list went as follows:

10. "What a coincidence! I couldn't find a woman to go with me either!"

9. "If I wear my 3-D glasses over my 2-D glasses, can I see in 5-D?"

8. "It's nice that they didn't over-hype this thing."

7. "Last time I saw blue creatures for three hours, I drank too much Nyquil."
