LOS ANGELES, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Shayne Lamas says she is hopeful her new reality show featuring her siblings and parents will bring her family closer together.
The "General Hospital" actress said of particular importance to her is whether "Leave It to Lamas" will improve the relationship between her older brother A.J. and her father, actor Lorenzo Lamas, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.
"The No. 1 deciding factor in doing this show was that we'd get to spend quality time with each other," said Lamas, whose younger sister Dakota and mother Michelle also appear in the series.
"The second factor was my trying to get my brother and father to finally sit down and have a chat. We knew if we were all on board and there were photo shoots that they had to be at together, no matter what. They were going to be in the same room at some point."
Viewers of the new E! series will quickly learn that A.J. and Lorenzo have not spoken in nearly five years.
Lamas, 23, told the Daily News that familial conflict was strained during early filming due to a tabloid report that A.J. had an affair with his father's fourth wife, Shauna Sand.
"We were just filming the first week and that magazine came out. Nothing was set up or faked," Lamas said of the series set to premiere Oct. 11.
