NEW YORK, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Actor and standup comedian Richard Belzer has agreed to headline the 7th annual New York Underground Comedy Festival, organizers said Tuesday.
The event is to take place from Saturday through Oct. 12.
"There can be nothing better than performing for a hip audience and that's what you get in New York City at the Underground Comedy Festival. I couldn't be more excited," Belzer, star of TV's "Law & Order," said in a statement.
Belzer is slated to perform Saturday at the Green Room Theater in Manhattan.
"We're honored to have such a unique and distinguished comedian in our festival. Richard Belzer embodies the artistry and fortitude that every comic aspires to," said New York Underground Comedy Festival Executive Producer Jim Mendrinos.
Also set to perform at this year's festival are Rick Overton, A. Whitney Brown, Billy the Mime, John Fugelsang, Reese Waters, Eddie Brill and Larry Wilmore.
