LOS ANGELES, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Mel Gibson's lawyer has filed papers in California indicating she plans to formally ask a judge to remove a drunken driving arrest from the actor's record.

TMZ said Gibson's lawyer, Blair Berk, is set to go to court next week and make the request based on the fact Gibson has successfully completed all the terms of his three-year probation.

The "Braveheart" actor-director and "Lethal Weapon" star made headlines when he was arrested in Malibu in July 2006 and made anti-Semitic remarks to a police officer.
