LOS ANGELES, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Writer, director and producer J.J. Abrams is set to executive produce an as-yet-untitled comedy series for Fox, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

Abrams is best known as the one of the masterminds behind TV's "Lost," "Alias" and "Fringe," and the movies "Mission: Impossible III" and this summer's "Star Trek" reboot.

The Hollywood Reporter said Abrams is working on a half-hour "comedic medical show" penned by Mike Markowitz, a writer-producer on the Ted Danson TV comedy, "Becker."
