No third season for 'The Cleaner' on A&E

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- The A&E Network says it has decided not to renew its sophomore drama, "The Cleaner," meaning the U.S. series will not be back for a third season.

The Hollywood Reporter said Saturday "The Cleaner" became the first scripted series from A&E in more than six years when the series first debuted in July 2008.

The second season of the series, which starred actor Benjamin Bratt, ended this month with a 13-episode run.

The series followed Bratt as he played an interventionist who used unconventional methods to help people free themselves from addiction to drugs and alcohol.

The departure of "The Cleaner" at A&E comes after the network cut ties with its other scripted drama, "The Beast."

The Reporter said "Beast," which starred the late actor Patrick Swayze, was canceled after one season.
