NEW YORK, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Host Paula Abdul opened the "VH1 Divas" concert in New York by performing a medley of her own hits, such as "Forever Your Girl" and "Cold Hearted Snake."

Headlining Thursday night's event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music were Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis and Jordin Sparks.

The evening also featured guest performers such as Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, India.Arie, Cyndi Lauper, Martina McBride and Stevie Wonder.

Introducing the acts were Corbin Bleu, Toni Braxton, Lauren Conrad, Bethenny Frankel, Kathie Lee Gifford, Kathy Griffin, Keri Hilson, Hoda Kotb, Ryan Kwanten, NeNe Leakes, Liza Minnelli, Whitney Port, Sam Trammell, Kim Zolciak, and the cast of the upcoming film "Fame."

The "VH1 Divas" show raised $250,000 for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation's charity efforts, the network said Friday.
