NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- John Stossel is leaving ABC to anchor a weekend show on Fox Business Network and appear during the week on Fox News Channel, the U.S. cable channel said.

In a statement, Fox said Thursday Stossel has signed a multiyear deal to host a one-hour Fox Business program called "Stossel," set to premiere this fall.

"Each week Stossel will be joined by experts to explore consumer-focused topics such as free-market economies, civil liberties, the business of healthcare, Social Security and free trade," Fox said.

"I'm thrilled to join Fox News and look forward to inventing a new show for Fox Business," Stossel said.

Stossel, best known for his work on ABC's "20/20," previously appeared on "Good Morning America."

ABC said Stossel "has been an important part of the ABC News family for decades and we will miss him."

"He has engaged, and occasionally enraged, our audience with thought-provoking opinions and analysis," the network said.

Stossel received 19 Emmy awards in addition to a George Foster Peabody Award and a George Polk Award for local reporting.
