ATLANTA, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Turner Classic Movies has named "Breakfast at Tiffany's," "Rebel without a Cause" and "Flashdance" as some of its favorite U.S. fashion trendsetting films.

The list was unveiled Tuesday ahead of Fashion Week in New York, which is to run from Sept. 10-17.

"Movies have long had a pivotal role in setting new fashion trends, while also serving as inspirations to legions of designers. To assemble its list, TCM's experts used guidance from two great contemporary designers, Manolo Blahnik and Todd Oldham," the 15-year-old network said in a news release.

TCM host Robert Osborne said fashion remains an integral part of the images of many stars.

"The greatest leading men and leading ladies all had distinctive styles," Osborne said in a statement. "Today, we remember not just the acting skills of someone like Cary Grant -- we also know him for his indelible fashion sense."

TCM's 15 Favorite Fashion Trendsetting Films, listed in chronological order, are "Pandora's Box" (1929); "Letty Lynton" (1932); "It Happened One Night" (1934); "Pat and Mike" (1952); "Rear Window" (1954);

"Rebel Without a Cause" (1955); "And God Created Woman..." (1956); "Auntie Mame" (1958); "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961); "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967); "The Thomas Crown Affair" (1968); "Shaft" (1971); "Annie Hall" (1977); "Saturday Night Fever" (1977) and "Flashdance" (1983).
