BOSTON, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Former U.S. late night TV host Jay Leno says he is not worrying about whether his upcoming prime time series "The Jay Leno Show" will succeed or not.

Before a recent performance at Boston's Cutler Majestic Theatre, the former "Tonight Show" host described his approach to the television industry in regard to his new NBC series that is set to premiere Sept. 14, The Boston Globe reported Sunday.

"I don't really worry about failing,'' Leno told the newspaper. "You just do the best you can do. If it's bad, they throw you out on your (expletive). That's fine."

"The Jay Leno Show" is expected to be different from Leno's "Tonight Show" fare as the weeknight series will feature comedy correspondents and even an environmentally conscious racetrack for celebrity competitions.

Leno told the Globe he is looking at his new TV post as a "blessing in disguise," despite the fact it meant he had to leave the "Tonight Show" after 17 years.

"You tend to look at things as a blessing in disguise. I would have been content to do 'The Tonight Show' for the rest of my life, but that didn't work out," Leno said. "So, OK, you change direction and you try something else.''
