LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- U.S. director Mike White is reuniting with Laura Dern, one of the co-stars of his movie "Year of the Dog," for an HBO comedy pilot called "Enlightened."

The Hollywood Reporter said the pilot for a possible series about a self-destructive woman trying to turn her life around -- and wreaking havoc at home and work in the process -- is to go into production in December.

"The only thing I can think of cooler than making a show at HBO is doing it with Laura Dern," the entertainment industry trade newspaper quoted White as saying. "I am totally stoked."

Dern, who has appeared in the films "Blue Velvet," "Rambling Rose," "Jurassic Park" and "Wild at Heart," earned critical acclaim for her work in the 2008 HBO movie "Recount."

White, an actor, writer, producer and director, penned and acted in the movies "The Good Girl" and "School of Rock." He also wrote and produced episodes of TV's "Dawson's Creek" and "Freaks and Geeks."
