Tony Blair to make 'Late Show' debut

NEW YORK, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has agreed to make his first visit to the "Late Show with David Letterman," CBS announced Wednesday.

Blair will be the guest on Tuesday's edition of the late-night chat show.

Prime minister of Britain from 1997 to 2007, Blair has since started the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, which "promotes respect and understanding between the major religions and makes the case for faith as a force for good in the modern world," CBS noted in a release.

Also, next week he starts the second year of a three-year teaching engagement at Yale University as part of the "Faith and Globalization Initiative," a collaboration with Yale University's Divinity School, School of Management and his foundation.

In the Middle East, Blair is the "quartet representative" for the United States, United Nations, European Union and Russia. In that role, he works with the Palestinians to prepare for statehood as part of the international community's effort to secure peace in the region. He also continues to be an advocate on issues in Africa and has on-going governance projects in Rwanda and Sierra Leone, the network said.
