Posey diagnosed with Lyme disease

NEW YORK, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Actress Parker Posey has dropped out of the upcoming off-Broadway play, "This," after being diagnosed with Lyme disease, a member of the production staff said.

Posey, 40, is best known for her work in the films "Party Girl," "Clockwatchers," "Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show" and "For Your Consideration."

E! News said her recent diagnosis with the tick-borne disease has sidelined her from taking the stage this fall in Melissa James Gibson's drama.

The production's artistic director told E! the show will go on but it will not be ready for the announced Nov. 6 start date now that a replacement must be found for Posey.
