NEW YORK, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Rod Blagojevich, the impeached ex-governor of Illinois, and his wife Patti have been booked for a joint interview on TV's "The View," ABC said.

The scandal-plagued couple are to appear on the Sept. 9 edition of the daytime chat show where Rod Blagojevich will be promoting his forthcoming book, "The Governor."

"Mr. Blagojevich's last appearance on 'The View' -- Jan. 26 -- sparked attention and made national headlines," ABC noted in a news release. "During that interview, Mr. Blagojevich told Barbara Walters, who appeared via satellite from Los Angeles: 'Let me unequivocally state right here before you and the whole country: Under no circumstances was I trying to sell a Senate seat. Under no circumstances did I break any laws.'"

Blagojevich is facing federal corruption charges that include allegations he sought to benefit financially from his appointment of a successor to fill the U.S. Senate seat that had been held by President Barack Obama.
