NEW YORK, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- U.S. singer and television personality Paula Abdul has signed on as host of next month's star-studded "VH1 Divas" concert in New York, the network announced.

The former "American Idol" judge has sold 50 million records and had six No. 1 hits throughout her career.

VH1 also said Jordin Sparks is joining the roster of previously announced "Divas" performers, which includes Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus.

The "VH1 Divas" concert is to be televised live on VH1 Sept. 17 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, N.Y.
