NEW YORK, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- For the first time on the U.S. version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," a contestant tried to answer the $1 million question and got it wrong.
Ken Basin, an entertainment lawyer from Los Angeles, went home with $25,000 in winnings after incorrectly answering the $1 million question on Sunday's finale of the special prime time edition of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" with Regis Philbin as host, ABC said.
The network revived its former prime time ratings juggernaut for two weeks to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the U.S. version of "Millionaire." A daytime version of the series has aired in syndication for several years.
So, what was the question that tripped Basin up?
"For ordering his favorite beverages on demand, (former U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson) had four buttons installed in the Oval Office labeled 'coffee,' 'tea,' 'Coke' and what?"
The possible answers were -- A: Fresca, B: V8, C: Yoo-hoo, D: A&W." Basin used his "Ask the Audience" lifeline and 40 percent said C: Yoo-hoo, while 33 percent said D: A&W.
"At this point, Ken had the option of not guessing and walking away with the guaranteed $500,000 that he had already won," ABC noted in a news release. "He decided to trust the studio audience, despite the fact that there was a slim margin between C and D. Ken guessed C, but unfortunately the correct answer was A, so (he) fell back to $25,000 in winnings."
