NEW YORK, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Joan Jett is suing a member of her first band for attempting to block a movie about her hard rock girl band, a complaint filed in New York said.

The New York Post reported Jett filed a complaint in Manhattan Supreme Court against Jacqueline Fuchs, the bassist in her first band, The Runaways, for allegedly trying to disrupt the release of Jett's biographical movie.

"Fuchs tried to have the film halted and has demanded to see the script, even though there is no character based on her," the complaint said.

Jett's film, starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, is scheduled to come out next year.

Jett is known best as the leader of the band, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, a group popular in the 1980s.
