
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Imagen Awards officials said "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" earned top feature movie honors at this year's awards ceremony in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Variety said the 2008 comedy was a big winner at the 24th annual Imagen Awards Friday night as "Chihuahua" actor Manolo Cardona was also honored with a best supporting actor award.
The annual awards show recognizes film and TV offerings that feature positive portrayals of Latinos and Latino culture.
Best actor kudos at Friday's event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel went to Luis Guzman for "Maldeamores," which also earned director Carlitos Ruiz top directing honors.
"Ugly Betty" actresses America Ferrera and Ana Ortiz earned best actress and best supporting actress awards, respectively, for their roles on the ABC series.
Variety said the event also honored "Dora the Explorer" with a best children's programming award and agent Emanuel Nunez with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
