'Yellow Submarine' remake in the works

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Filmmaker Robert Zemeckis is in talks to direct a remake of the 1968 animated Beatles movie musical, "Yellow Submarine," The Hollywood Reporter said.

The original film's soundtrack includes hits like "Eleanor Rigby," "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds," "When I'm Sixty-Four" and "With a Little Help From My Friends."

The entertainment industry trade newspaper said Disney is shepherding the 3D, performance capture remake of "Submarine" and is in the midst of acquiring the rights to the music.

Zemeckis' film credits include the "Back to the Future" trilogy, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," "Forrest Gump," "The Polar Express," "Beowulf " and the upcoming "A Christmas Carol."
