
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Sci-fi "District 9" took first place at the U.S. box office, raking in $37 million during the weekend in estimated box office receipts.
"G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" fell to No. 2 with from No. 1 last week with $22.5 million.
All estimates are from Box Office Mojo.
"The Time Traveler's Wife" took in more than $19.2 million for third; "Julie & Julia" was fourth with $12.4 million; "G-Force" fifth with more than $6.9 million; "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard" sixth with $5.35 million; "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" still chugging away at seventh with more than $5.15 million; "The Ugly Truth" eighth with $4.5 million; and "Ponyo" ninth with more than $3.78.
Rounding out the top 10 was "Days of Summer" with more than $3.02 million.
