LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- British actress Carey Mulligan reportedly has been hired for a role in the new U.S. movie "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps."

The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday the 24-year-old actress will play the daughter of the lead character, corporate raider Gordon Gecko, who Michael Douglas brought to life in 1987's "Wall Street."

Douglas will reprise his Gecko role for the sequel with Shia LaBeouf and Frank Langella also signed on as cast members

LaBeouf, star of the "Transformers" films, will play a rising Wall Street broker who begins a romantic relationship with Mulligan's character.

The sequel is expected to begin shooting in New York in September, the Reporter said.

Among Mulligan's movie credits are the upcoming "An Education," along with "Brothers" and "Public Enemies."
