LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Victoria Beckham's publicist says the British singer and fashion designer does not intend to take over Paula Abdul's "American Idol" judging job.

It was recently announced Abdul will not return to the U.S. television singing competition show next season.

Rumors began swirling that Beckham, a member of the former female pop group Spice Girls, is in line to replace Abdul after she appeared on the judging panel at two "Idol" auditions.

However, Beckham's representative, Cheryl Maisel, told E! News, "She is not in talks to join the show permanently."
