Brian D'Arcy James set for 'Time' play

Shrek the Musical opens on Broadway in New York

NEW YORK, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Brian D'Arcy James, currently portraying the titular ogre in Broadway's "Shrek The Musical," has signed on to star in the play "Time Stands Still" next year.

The Manhattan Theatre Club said James will co-star alongside Laura Linney and Alicia Silverstone in the New York premiere of Donald Margulies' stage drama.

The play is to begin previews of its limited-engagement run at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre Jan. 5, in preparation for a Jan. 28, opening night.

James returns to MTC after appearing in the acclaimed production of Andrew Lippa's "The Wild Party" for which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination. James's other theater credits include "Next to Normal," "Port Authority," "The Apple Tree," "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" and "Sweet Smell of Success."
