NEW YORK, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- The girlfriend of actor Michael Douglas's son is accused of smuggling heroin to him while he was under home detention in New York, court papers revealed.

The federal complaint said a security guard reported hearing Cameron Douglas asking for a toothbrush, which his girlfriend, Kelly Sott, delivered. TV Guide reported Wednesday. When the guard inspected the toothbrush's battery compartment, he found "a brownish substance that appeared to be heroin," the complaint said.

A field test later determined the substance was about 7 grams of heroin, the weekly magazine said.

When Sott was arrested in a New York hotel room, she said she didn't know about the toothbrush's contents, but a search found glassines with what appeared to be heroin, marijuana and possible crystal methamphetamine, TV Guide reported the court papers disclosed.

Douglas, who has acted alongside his father, was arrested in July on a charge of dealing methamphetamine.
