LOS ANGELES, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Cameron Douglas, the 30-year-old son of film star Michael Douglas, has been arrested on drug charges in New York, officials say.

The younger Douglas, a disc jockey and occasional actor who has a history of drug and legal troubles, was arrested July 28 at Manhattan's Gansevoort Hotel; a Drug Enforcement Agency task force allegedly caught him acting as middleman in a scheme to transport a half-pound of crystal methamphetamine from California to sell in New York, sources told the New York Post.

His arrest reportedly took place before the drugs were shipped.

The Post said Michael Douglas' representatives did not return a call seeking comment on the story.
