NEW YORK, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Ryan O'Neal says he didn't recognize his estranged daughter, Tatum, and tried to flirt with her at his ex-girlfriend Farrah Fawcett's funeral.

"I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me," the New York Daily News quoted Ryan O'Neal as telling Vanity Fair for its upcoming issue. "I said to her: 'You have a drink on you? You have a car?' She said, 'Daddy, it's me --Tatum!' I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it's my daughter. It's so sick."

The famous father and daughter co-starred -- annd Tatum O'Neal won an Oscar -- in the 1973 film "Paper Moon" and have both battled substance abuse problems.

Ryan O'Neal said he is still upset with his daughter for writing "A Paper Life," an autobiography he said wasn't flattering.

"She wrote a book -- bitch! How dare she throw our laundry in the street for money?" the actor told Vanity Fair. "She didn't call after Farrah's show. She'll have to explain that."

Fawcett's long battle with cancer was documented in the TV program "Farrah's Story," which aired days before her June 25 death.
