LOS ANGELES, July 31 (UPI) -- Berry Gordy's representatives are shooting down reports the Motown Records founder has lent Michael Jackson's family a crypt to store the singer's body.

Jackson died June 25 and a casket allegedly containing his body was on display at a public memorial in Los Angeles July 7.

However, since then, it has been unclear where his body has been stored while the family decides on a permanent resting place, FOX News said.

Some reports have claimed the pop icon's remains were placed in an above-ground white marble crypt owned by Berry in Los Angeles' Forest Lawn Cemetery.

"I can assure you it is absolutely incorrect," Gordy's spokeswoman told the New York Daily News. "(Michael Jackson's body) is not there."

"Out of respect for the family's privacy, we don't comment on any services for our families," William Martin, a spokesman for Forest Lawn, told FOXNews.com.

Jackson's death certificate reportedly indicates Forest Lawn is his body's temporary resting place.

His family held a private wake and funeral for him there earlier this month, and Michael's brother, Tito, this week confirmed to "Entertainment Tonight" the singer's corpse is at Forest Lawn. He did not, however, offer any other details.
