LOS ANGELES, July 30 (UPI) -- USA Network said Thursday it has ordered a pilot called "Covert Affairs," a Universal Cable Productions original project starring Piper Perabo.

The program is being executive produced by Dave Bartis and Doug Liman through Dutch Oven, and written and co-executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord.

The announcement was made Thursday by Jackie de Crinis, USA's senior program executive.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with Dutch Oven on 'Covert Affairs,' a show with an exciting backdrop of action-packed suspense and an entertaining, character-driven premise that fits so perfectly into the USA brand," de Crinis said in a statement.

In the pilot, Perabo plays Annie Walker, a young CIA trainee who is "mysteriously summoned" to headquarters for duty as field operative.

"While Annie believes she's been promoted for her exceptional linguistic skills, there may be something or someone from her past that her CIA bosses are really after," the network said in a news release. "Christopher Gorham plays Auggie Anderson, a CIA military intelligence agent who was blinded while on assignment and is Annie's guide in this world of bureaucracy, excitement and intrigue."
