NEW YORK, July 29 (UPI) -- The Broadway musical version of the 1980 movie "9 to 5" is expected to close around Labor Day, several theater sources told the New York Post.
The show featured a Tony Award-nominated score by the movie's leading lady, Dolly Parton. The stage musical stars Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty.
"White Christmas" reportedly may take over "9 to 5's" home at the Marquis Theatre in Manhattan next fall.
The Post said the critically panned "9 to 5" failed to re-invent the movie as a stage musical and stuck too close to the original work to offer audiences surprises.
