MOSCOW, July 29 (UPI) -- A communist group has asked U.S. pop star Madonna to dress modestly and sing a revolutionary song when she performs in Russia this weekend.

The iconic recording artist's concert is scheduled to take place Sunday at the historic Palace Square in St. Petersburg.

RIA Novosti said the Communists of Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, an organization that is separate from the larger Communist Party, has published an open letter asking the American singer to reconsider her costumes and repertoire for the show.

"You must understand the responsibility of singing in such a place," the group wrote.

"You should be dressed modestly, sing melodically, and keep the rules of morality in mind," it added. "We ask you, Madonna, to include in your repertoire on Palace Square a revolutionary song in honor of those who stormed the Winter Palace."
