LONDON, July 27 (UPI) -- A drug counselor said his Mercedes was totaled in a London collision with musician Robert Plant's Audi.
Richard Grant, who works for the charity Turning Point, said the former Led Zeppelin front man crashed into him July 2.
"I was unconscious for a little while and then I saw him standing there. I was pretty groggy when I saw him, but later on the officers told me who it was," Grant told The Daily Telegraph for Monday's edition. "I went to hospital for five hours and luckily there were no broken bones, but I was badly bruised on the arm and had whiplash. My Merc is smashed up and I'm not in a good way."
"There were no arrests and reports of very minor injuries," a police spokesman said, categorizing the incident as a "minor road traffic collision."
Plant's publicist declined to comment on the story.
The BBC said the British rocker used drugs during his Led Zeppelin days but stopped after his bandmate John Bonham died of pulmonary edema in 1980, reportedly after binging on alcohol. The band broke up after Bonham's death.
Plant, who subsequently had a successful solo career, has enjoyed a recent career resurgence, thanks to his bluegrass Grammy-wining collaborations with U.S. recording artist Alison Krauss.
