MEMPHIS, July 26 (UPI) -- U.S. pop singer Justin Timberlake says he is pleased to have played the first round of golf at a Tennessee golf course he had renovated.

The "SexyBack" singer played a round of golf Saturday during the opening day of the Mirimichi golf course that he spent $16 million renovating outside of Memphis, The Memphis Commercial Appeal reported Sunday.

"Nobody's happier about this course than I am," said Timberlake, who transformed the site from the old Big Creek Golf Course.

Timberlake, 28, is convinced his renovated golf course will become famous in the golfing world.

"Golfers are going to talk about these greens,'' Timberlake said during Saturday's round of golf. "The look and beauty and the challenge of them."

The Commercial Appeal said for Timberlake, who was born in Memphis, the new golf course also represents a community sanctuary and a golf course that is friendly to the environment.
