LONDON, July 14 (UPI) -- Sacha Baron Cohen's raunchy big-screen comedy "Bruno" has been edited for under-18 audiences in the United Kingdom, the BBC reported.

The R-rated film was No. 1 at the U.S. box office and raked in more than $30 million when it was released last weekend. Universal said the movie also has earned an estimated $8 million at the U.K. and Ireland box office since it opened July 12.

The BBC said a 15-rated edition and one with an 18 certificate will be available in U.K. theaters as of July 24, marking the first time two versions of the same movie will be in cinemas at the same time in Great Britain.

Universal Pictures told the BBC it cut a minute and 50 seconds from the original edit of the mockumentary, which is about a flamboyant Austrian fashionista, after U.K. theaters reported turning away hordes of teenagers during its opening weekend.
