LOS ANGELES, July 12 (UPI) -- La Toya Jackson alleges her brother Michael was effectively killed by his greedy and manipulative entourage, a charge LA police say they aren't ready to make.

The 53-year-old pop singer said her family is concerned those who hung around her even more famous brother may have been focused more on obtaining his wealth than being his friend, The Independent reported Sunday.

"We don't think just one person was involved in the murder. It was a conspiracy to get Michael's money," she told the British newspaper.

She said her family is planning to sue any unidentified individuals deemed responsible for Jackson's June 25 death at the age of 50.

"He was surrounded by a bad circle. Michael was a very meek, quiet, loving person," she said.

"Michael was worth more than $1 billion. When anyone is worth that much money, there are always greedy people around them."

Meanwhile, authorities aren't ready to address any such allegations.

"We are still awaiting corroboration from the coroner's office as to cause of death. That is going to be very dependent on the toxicology reports that are due to come back," Los Angeles Police Commissioner William Bratton was quoted as saying by The Times of London.
