
MEMPHIS, July 11 (UPI) -- MTV New Media official David Harris says the cable network is looking for locations in Memphis ideal for filming its new horror series "Savage County."
The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal reported Saturday that "Savage" will follow a group of Texas high school students who clash with a rural family following a practical joke.
With Memphis standing in for Texas for filming purposes, production is get started Aug. 4 with a budget of $250,000.
"We've been scouring the countryside, looking for scary houses," Harris said of pre-production efforts in Memphis.
"Savage" producer Erin Hagee said about 20 crew members will be used in the production with 70 percent of the workers being chosen from the local population.
Notable Memphians such as musician Jimmy Crosthwait will also serve in series' cast of seven lead actors, The Commercial Appeal said.
