Bratton: Tox tests key in Jacko death

LOS ANGELES, July 10 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton says detectives are still interviewing the late Michael Jackson's former doctors about his prescription drug use.

CNN also quoted Bratton as saying the department is waiting for the results of toxicology tests to see if his cardiac arrest death last month at the age of 50 might have been a homicide or an accidental drug overdose.

"And based on those, we will have an idea of what it is we are dealing (with:) Are we dealing with a homicide or are we dealing with an accidental overdose?" Bratton said.

CNN reported a confidential document it obtained from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department Thursday indicated Jackson, a reputed insomniac, at one point ingested more than 10 Xanax pills a night.

Other insiders close to Jackson told CNN he traveled with an anesthesiologist who would "take him down" at night and "bring him back up" when he was performing on his world tour more than a decade ago.

The sheriff's department document, which featured interviews police conducted with two of Jackson's former security guards in preparation for the singer's 2005 child molestation trial, also claimed the pop star asked his employees to obtain the prescription sleep medicine for him under their names.

Jackson was subsequently acquitted of all child abuse charges.

Sources told CNN doctors who are not cooperating with the investigation into Jackson's death are being subpoenaed.

"The family is aware of a potential criminal prosecution," an insider, who did not want to be identified, told the news network.
