LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- Randy and La Toya Jackson were among those who attended a private wake for their late pop icon brother, Michael, in Los Angeles Monday night.

The singer died last month of a suspected drug overdose at the age of 50. A public memorial is slated for the Staples Center Tuesday. Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, John Mayer and Stevie Wonder were expected to attend.

Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe, the mother of two of his three children, and his longtime friend, actress Elizabeth Taylor, have said they will not attend the highly publicized Staples Center event, which is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of fans to the area.

People.com said Jackson's siblings and other mourners were accompanied by police to Monday's service at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Following a private family funeral early Tuesday at the cemetery, the coffin was transported to the Staples Center for the public event, CBS said.
